General Tips

#1 Plan your path to flip tiles in a way that creates uniform-color rows. Every tile you cross flips from black to white or white to black — think about the end state, not just the path.

#2 Think about which tiles are already the right color — you don't need to flip everything. Sometimes the best path avoids certain tiles entirely.

#3 Use the outer ring to set up multi-row clears. The border ring gives you strategic entry and exit points for your path.

#4 Don't rush your first stroke. Take a moment to scan the grid and identify which rows are close to being one color, then plan your path to complete them.

#5 Pay attention to the adaptive difficulty. If puzzles feel too easy, you're improving — harder puzzles with more complex tile layouts are coming. If you're struggling, the game will adjust.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Puzzle Mode and Challenge Mode?

Puzzle Mode is untimed with infinite procedurally generated puzzles and adaptive difficulty — it gets harder as you improve. Challenge Mode adds time pressure, rising rows from below, and a combo multiplier system where consecutive row clears boost your score.

How does the tile-flipping mechanic work?

Every tile on the grid is either black or white. When you draw your path over a tile, it flips to the opposite color. Your goal is to plan a path that creates complete rows of one color — when a full row becomes all black or all white, it clears from the board.

What is the outer ring and how do I use it?

The outer ring is a border around the main grid that adds tactical depth. You can use it to route your path around the grid's edges, setting up multi-row clears and creating strategic entry points for your path without flipping tiles you want to leave alone.

Does the game ever become impossible?

Every puzzle generated in One Stroke is guaranteed to have at least one solution. The adaptive difficulty increases grid complexity and tile layouts gradually, but no puzzle is unsolvable.
